A look into my sketchbook journey and why they hold so much power
Welcome to my creative world! In this little video, I'm sharing an intimate look at some of my sketchbook pages.
I'm trying to apply this as a daily habit. I often see artist who manages to do even just 5 minute drawings, everyday. This would be my ideal practice. I have come to accept that I take a bit longer to draw - to find the inspiration, the right picture, tools, and then take a few sips of coffee before I get into the motion. All of these barriers are self made, and I am trying to overcome some of them or set up healthier habits so I can make this a possibility.
The benefit of sketchbooking is plenty-fold, and I've never been so fond or appreciative of any other practice. You get to make your 'mistakes' and get them out of the way to focus for the rest of the day. You get to play, test, try new colours, tecniques. You discover what you truly like when you flip through those pages. Imperfections becomes beauty. I thought I just love drawing in subdued colours, focusing on plants and animals. After almost a year of sketching, I can see that I yearn for colour, landscapes, clouds, faces, and sweet moments of everyday life. We often let days go by without noticing even one spectacular element of it - another forgotten day. But in these pages, a simple sketch of a lemon on a table, could remind you of a thoughtful morning, or just how great it felt in that moment, to look at a bright yellow lemon.
I hope this gives you insight into my artistic journey and maybe inspires your own creative practice.
